Success at the AMOC St. John Horsfall Meeting
Saturday, 30th May 2009, saw the Aston Martin Owners Club (AMOC) host their main event of the racing season, the St John Horsfall meeting. This event, the biggest in the AMOC calendar, is held at Silverstone in memory of the late St John Horsfall.
St. John, also known as “Jock”, was born in 1910 and raced many Aston Martins in his lifetime. It was in one such race, in an ERA R11B 1.5 litre "Humphrey", that he was tragically killed in an accident, when competing in the final of the BRDC International Trophy at Silverstone in 1949. AMOC created its event to commemorate his life and it is always the largest event of the year.
This year’s event was as well supported as ever and saw many fabulous cars competing. There was success for Post Vintage, as Adrian Johnson finished second overall, racing in an Aston Martin Ulster and valued client, Mark Midgley, finished in fifth overall in his DB2.

A parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Aston Martin’s success at Le Mans was also held. The parade saw many of the cars which have had success in the event in the last 50 years tour around the Silverstone circuit and was a magnificent site as can be seen in the main photograph.
