Mille Miglia 2010 Update Day 1

The Mille Miglia 2010 has now commenced! The “world’s greatest” road race (as declared by Enzo Ferrari) of 375 cars manufactured between 1927 and 1957 departed from Brescia yesterday evening with the first car commencing its epic journey at 7.30pm local time. Adrian and Clare Johnson and Terry and Liz Bramall in cars number 325 and 322 respectively, departed at approximately 9pm.

This first leg of the 1000 mile rally took the cars from Brescia to Bologna, taking in Pozzolengo, Solferino and Cento en route. Travelling 150 miles or so through the evening and into the night, arriving into Bologna just before 2am.

By the end of this stage, both cars were doing well, with Adrian and Clare in the D Type in 175th position and Terry and Liz in the C Type in 124th position.  A great start for both cars.

Overnight is when the support crew sets to work, preparing the cars and ensuring that they are in race ready condition for the following day. Robin Griffiths and William Bryan are supporting both the C and the D Type so had a long night ahead of them!

After a few hours sleep, Team Johnson and Team Bramall were back on the road at 7am this morning for the next stage of the journey which takes them on the next 350 miles or so down to Rome.

We wish them every success for day two, further updates to follow!
