Second in Class at Donington Park

The 5 and 6 September 2009 saw the Royal Automobile Club and Motor Racing Legends host another leg of the annual Woodcote Trophy. This series, for genuine sports-racers of the post War era, up to 1955, comprises of several race meetings. Each race is at least one hour in duration, for two drivers and demands the highest of driving skills with all cars running to their original period specification.

The winner of the Trophy is decided after the whole series of races has been completed, with the overall winner being announced at the awards dinner on 11 November, at Woodcote Park. This year’s series includes the following events:

·         MRL Test and Track Day, Anglesey Circuit (1 April)
·         Silverstone Classic, Silverstone (24-26 July)
·         VSCC See Red, Donington Park (5-6 September)
·         Spa Six Hour Meeting, Spa-Francorchamps (25-27 September)

In this third leg, held at Donington Park, Adrian Johnson competed with Mark Midgley in an Aston Martin DB2, in the class for Drum Braked vehicles up to 3000cc. There was a fantastic line up of cars competing in seven different classes, with an Aston Martin DB3, DB3S, two DB2’s and two Jaguar D Type’s on the starting grid.

This proved to be another very successful event for Mark and Adrian, who finished second in class. Another tremendous result to add to the 2009 season in DB2.
